I’m Zoe, a Hong Kong-born, London-based freelance writer.

What are you wearing?

A black cheongsam top from my mum; Samuel Gui Yang trousers; Auralee loafers; a Maeden bag; and a Betsey Johnson leather coat from my local consignment store.

Why did you choose this outfit?

These few weeks in London have been very confusing, weather-wise, and I probably won’t get to wear this jacket much once we do truly descend into winter—had to get some wear out of it while I could! I have many cheongsam tops, but this one is my favourite, and I tend to gravitate towards them when I don’t know what to wear.

I love the colour of these Samuel Gui Yang trousers (I have the matching top too) and the button detail. I’ve always avoided yellows and golds generally, but this set has warmed me to the latter. I wear a lot of black in the colder months so it’s nice to brighten up an otherwise monochrome get-up.

Where did you wear it/ where are you planning to wear it?

I wore it at home (sans coat) under a big sweater, and then out to dinner in the evening.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

You’re never going to wear the pieces you’re (I’m) keeping (hoarding) that are just a little bit too tight. Also, how well things wash really matters.

One person you think has great style?

Tina Chow—I channelled her with the headpiece I wore (by London brand Wed) at my wedding reception. What I’d do for a glimpse into her wardrobe of Fortuny dresses and jewellery she designed for her eponymous brand...

Best life hack?

I’m trying to be less of a bag lady for the sake of my back and shoulders, and have directed that energy towards packing the perfect emergency pouch that I bring (almost) everywhere. It’s smaller than my hand, and fits: medication; various hair fasteners and lip products; period products; a mirror; a sunscreen stick; mints; a charger cable; a lighter; band-aids; and more.

Your favourite person to follow?

I’m currently obsessed with Suea and the way she sees the world; I also love Historycoolkids and Le Dauphin. Carmen Atiyah de Baets (her personal account, and the account for her guesthouse + store) and Akio Hasegawa are also go-tos when I’m stuck for ideas when getting dressed.

One recommendation to read/ watch/ listen/ see or do?

I recently wrote a piece for The Pass on Daquise, a Polish restaurant in London that will sadly be closing, likely at the end of the year. So I’d say read the story for my perfect order (trust me), and go while you can if you’re in London. Listen to my friend Cehryl’s new album of ambient vignettes, which makes me feel like I’m back in Hong Kong.

Who are you?

I’m Sheila! I’m a Gen X woman from Canada’s west coast who loves clothes. What are you wearing?

I’m wearing a men’s Kenzo sweatshirt with a sparkly black top underneath, paired with a wrap skirt by Kate Spade and a floofy underskirt by Luc Fontaine, plus boots by John Fluevog (called the Original Sabado). Everything is secondhand except for the John Fluevog boots - I saved up gift cards from my friends, husband and coworkers to buy them, and I easily own 40 pairs. Fluevog is a Canadian-owned and operated company that pays their employees a living wage, and I’ll support that every day. Plus their shoes are cool as f*ck.

Why did you choose this outfit?

The sweatshirt is new-to-me so I wanted to wear it right away – I never save things “for good.” I also like a casual look for the office on Fridays (yes, this is casual for me), with a funky twist. The skirt is one I’ve had for years – I’m a fan of black and white patterns, and although this flared cut isn’t really my jam anymore (style is a river, ever changing), I love the quality of it and that I can easily “toughen” it up.

Where did you wear it/ where are you planning to wear it?

I wore this to the office! I work in the IT field as an administrator, and am grateful that my company supports and celebrates my sartorial choices. I also popped out to buy some snacks for the weekend, and rode the bus home. I’m always the dressiest person I see, and no one ever says boo. Oh, that’s not true, a busker admired that my blue hair matched my outfit. “It’s like I planned it,” I said.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

That 99% of people REALLY don’t care about you or what you wear – so don’t be afraid to try. Try different colours, try new cuts, try tucking in this and tying a scarf on it. Put a brooch on! Wear rings on every finger. Dye your hair blue. Some of it will work, some of it won’t and that’s okay. Learn from your missteps and move on. Next outfit! And really, it’s just an outfit.

One person you think has great style?

Tilda Swinton is not afraid to experiment, or to stand out – I’m drawn to risk-takers when it comes to fashion. Janelle Monáe’s looks are always captivating and full of interesting detail.

Best life hack?

Listen to your gut. Trust your intuition.

Your favourite person to follow?

I have too many to list and I won’t play favourites.

Please support local brick-and-mortar businesses in your community, and buy secondhand when you can. Put your money back into your community. Small changes in our behaviour make a big difference!

An old jacket, an old T-shirt, and some old shoes, but with new bits in the mix too: Jeans made by Keith Henry, my good luck necklace from The Ouze, a silk Kaptain Sunshine shirt.

Why did you choose this outfit?

I think it shows the mix I feel most comfortable leaving the house in. On the one hand, I’m lucky that my work brings me into contact with a lot of ultra-talented designers. But I also feel a little unmoored if I’m not anchored by a few pieces each day that I’ve worn for years and years. I also dress a lot out of nostalgia for eras I wasn’t even alive for — I think elements of this outfit show that too.

Where did you wear it?

This was just a normal working day with some friends. But I’d wear something like this anywhere.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

I’m both helped and haunted by my mum’s advice growing up: That I shouldn’t leave the house wearing more than two colours.

One person you think has great style?

Sam Shepard for denim, Leonard Cohen for suiting. But I do think so much of their stylish power comes from the quality of the work they made, paired with the great clothes.

Best life hack?

Oh god — allocate four hours for work that requires two!

So I went out two nights in a row which is a very rare occurrence - first look I’m wearing my boyfriend’s old Thrasher t shirt, vintage Levi’s and Timberlands. Chopova Lowena earrings that I mixed up cos why not? A Marques’Almeida fluffy coat with a Fendi B bag from 2008, and Bottega Veneta glasses.

Why did you choose these outfits?

I had surgery a couple of months ago on my uterus as I had a fibroid, so O want to be as comfortable as possible at all times at the moment. And warm because it’s freezing in London!

Where did you wear them?

The first picture I wore to see Erykah Badu at the Royal Albert Hall and second I wore to see Billy Cobham play at Union Chapel. I wanted to wear things I could move to their music in and not feel restricted, with a touch of fun.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

Always add the jewellery and have a sense of humour when getting dressed.

One person you think has great style?

I’m so sorry this is going to be long! My Tata had the best style. He always looked so smart and fresh. He always had the best sunglasses.

My three girlfriends Danielle Greco, Natalie Roar and Benedict Brink also have the most fun and coolest sense of style. They are unequivocally themselves in everything they wear. Danielle and Nat are maximalists. Every time I see them I smile because whatever they are wear, the way the looks are put together sparks complete joy. Both wear second hand vintage pieces nearly exclusively, and have handbag collections to die for! Nat is barely online (which is wonderful) so if you get a glimpse of a full Natalie Roar look in the wild, you’re very lucky.

Benedict, on the other hand, is the opposite. She keeps it super simple… wears thin, gorgeous, old baggy t-shirts, Oxford shirts, tracksuits or jeans. But will have a beautiful beaded glass necklace that she’s sourced from a random shop abroad in the middle of nowhere, that I’m always going to covet.

Best life hack?

Christ best life hack hmmm… always carry a book with you in case you find yourself waiting. And cut your own hair, it will save you so much money.

Who are you?

Starting with the hard hitting questions! My name is Sophie Endrey and I am a co-founder of a fashion agency called (not our first ) RODEO Creatives that I launched with my co-cowboy, Holly Tenser, earlier this year.

I am also a creative fashion consultant, and mother to Picasso, my 10 year old puppy.

What are you wearing?

Usually, when in Lisbon I am wearing this blue hibiscus vintage dress that I reach for most mornings when I roll out of bed and stroll over to the dog park.

As I work from home largely, or with my bizz partner Holly, I use the rare occasion for a physical meeting to pop a cool outfit on. Here I am off to my accountants. Dressed in an Old Céline dress that makes me feel like a power ranger, and with Miu Miu impractical suede thong boot. I am trying to encourage some creative accounting.

The next photo is me feeling pretty smug in a suit in Paris last week. Mainly, because it is the first outing for my Louis Vuitton petit Valise space trunk. I was off to dinner to celebrate my dear friends Chris and Les on their engagement that transpired at the Eiffel Tower that day. Suit is Nanushka, Face is 3 glasses of wine and exhaustion after setting up a showroom.

The last pic is an outfit I wore recently in Marrakech. It was the last day of the work trip and I was getting creative with the dregs of my suitcase. It is an Old Céline dress, with a vintage Chloé banana bodysuit underneath (also by Phoebe) and a Loewe wristlet bag and vintage Dior circa Galliano slides.

Why did you choose these outfits?

These were the first that came to mind! And I wanted to show you all my cool stuffs.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

Not to overthink. No shame in repeating. There is genius in the chaos, and challenge yourself to wear the entire contents of your suitcase. Also, it’s more fun to be overdressed, or underdressed for any occasion.

Lastly, never ever snooze on a good vintage find. You will never get over the one that got away.

Why did you choose this outfit?

Since I was a child, I’ve loved animal prints and natural textures for clothing. I have an old photo of myself when I was around 7 or 9 wearing a biker jacket just like this and matching snakeskin pants. My mum dressed me well! Ha. There’s something about the patterns and textures of it that speaks to the complexities of humanity. I’m a Christian, so it aligns with my faith, and makes me ponder the biblical connotations and references to Genesis, and what took place in the beginning of time. You’ll have to dive into it to fully understand!

The outfit reflects what it is I want to communicate to the world through my gaze and the medium I use, which is fashion, clothing, style, design, imagery and self-expression.

Where did you wear it/ where are you planning to wear it?

I wore this to a panel discussion I was speaking called ‘Style and Substance: Fashion, Justice and Hope for a Better World’. But I’d love to wear it again to an event, show or party.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

Never leave the house feeling uncomfortable in what you’re wearing.

One person you think has great style?

It may seem cliche but Gabrielle Coco Chanel, because what on earth would we do without the Little Black Dress!?

Who are you?

Bryony Stone. I’m the Commercial Editorial Director at Dazed Studio. I live in Camberwell, South London.

What are you wearing?

There are no rules when it comes to style, only instinct and feeling. But there’s definitely a formula to what I wear. You’ll always find me in black - it makes me feel like myself. Usually, I’m wearing something sports-adjacent; tracksuit bottoms, ballet shoes, leggings, teeny running shorts, flip flops. I train most days, running, lifting weights, Pilates, yoga, calisthenics or swimming... I want to try Kung Fu next.

Today’s trousers are Comme.

I own a lot of basic black vests and T-shirts. But the fit has to be right. Lately, I’ve been buying them from Brandy Melville and Flore Flore.

This coat is from Frankie Shop. It’s the same weight as a blazer, which works for warmer autumn days.

The flip flops are via Carmen Amsterdam. I bought them at Carmen’s week-long summer pop-up in Marseille at La Traverse. You know how I said I only wear black? Well, looks like I lied because I wear silver accessories.

The bag? No comment. (It’s Alexander Wang)

I rarely take off my jewellery. Everything I wear is sentimental. My sweet friend Georgia Kemball designed most of my rings, including my diamond ring, a remaking of my granny’s engagement ring.

Why did you choose this outfit?

I chose this outfit because I love summer and I’m refusing to let it go. Hence the flip flops. It’s 25 degrees today (in late September) and I’ve never been happier.

Where did you wear it/ where are you planning to wear it?

I’m heading to the ICA to celebrate Fashion East turning 25 with Dazed. Lulu and Raph forever! (Editor’s note: more on that here)

When you find something you love, buy it twice.

One person you think has great style?

My best friend Issey Brunner has the best style of all time. She has a way of pulling together clashing colours and patterns with such grace. And no one can shop like Issey. The way she can sniff out the most niche archival runway pieces? In awe, eternally.

Best life hack?

Develop a sixth sense for knowing when to call it a night. Master the French exit. And don’t forget to share your location.

Forever inspired by Collectors Walls, which documents art and interiors from the past and present.

I was moved by Wolfgang Tillmans’ show (Nothing Could Have Prepared Us) at Pompidou in Paris. Something happens to my way of seeing when I see his work on a grand scale - it temporarily changes the way I look at life. The show just closed, but in case you missed it, he’s got an opening 3rd October at Maureen Paley, across three sites in Hackney.

La Horde recently had a new show at Southbank. I see them whenever they perform in London… I always cry.

Who are you?

I’m Ellen. A project manager, art writer and footballer — to varying degrees of professionalism.

What are you wearing?

I’m wearing some Acne trousers, a black tee I got from a work project (text conveniently obscured) with a Line by K vest over the top. My shoes are Salomons that I mostly bought for the colour because I like that they sort of match the red in my hair. I always consider my hair to be part of my outfit, and I’ve been enjoying doing these sort of constructed plaits to put off wash day.

Jewellery is a mix of some Maria Black, Missoma and the necklace charms are from one of my Granny’s and a Great Aunt on each side of my family. My glasses are from a shop called Specstacular.

Why did you choose this outfit?

It feels like an accurate picture of how I dress day-to-day. My wardrobe is mainly black, brown and navy so a lot of the time I’m looking for variation through texture or silhouette.

I’ve just had these trousers hemmed after putting it off for far too long so it feels like I’ve got a brand new pair. Top-wise I wanted to see if this layering would work in real life like it did in my head.

Where did you wear it?

I wore it into the office and then out for a cocktail with a friend at 392 Kingsland Rd.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learnt over the years?

A while ago, I realised I got most excited to get dressed when I was on holiday, and it was because my clothing options were condensed down to only my favourite things. I decided to treat my entire wardrobe as if it were only my “best,” and now anything new I buy has to fit this brief.

Read - Black Women Writers at Work, edited by Claudia Tate. An incredible collection of interviews. It was originally published in 1983 and is a really wonderful snapshot of each of the writers at the time, and I love the challenging moments in some of the conversations.

I’m Marta, 34, Portuguese, HIBU Studio founder and creative director and part-time dog walker, living between Lisbon and the countryside surrounding Tomar.

I’m wearing second hand cargo pants from Humana, they’re the only non-elasticated waist I can still wear. My favorite 25 summer baby tee from Maison Rapito. I love the color and the quote is just very accurate for me since I always suffered from very bad headaches. On my feet the unisex leather Moccasin/ Mule from my brand HIBU Studio. I love them and can wear them with every single look.

Big shopping/ beach bag from COS. I’m obsessed with bags that look bigger than me and when I found this striped one I thought it would be perfect for summer and maybe later to carry baby stuff. The necklace is a Carnebollente keychain that I turned into a necklace and attached some extra details.

Rings are all from Portuguese brands: Eres Lisbon, Lost my Julz, Cavaleiro Jewerly, and an old one from my grandma. Sunglasses are vintage Emporio Armani from WideShades.

Why did you choose this outfit?

Because I love a funny, comfy, colorful. printed outfit. I cannot lie, I’m having loads of fun seeing my body changing; finding ways to feel comfortable and show off my belly.

Where are you planning to wear it?

I could literally wear it everywhere. On a nice walk with the dogs, dinner with friends or a casual event in the city.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

The most powerful look is one that feels honest. It isn’t about following rules, it’s about understanding yourself and reflecting that. Even if understanding yourself is showing how many different moods you have, things you like and connect with. Some days bold, some days clean, others a crazy mess or even minimal. My mood decides, and it’s not always a good decision - and that’s totally fine.

One person you think has great style?

My grandma. I always love to see how great she looks and how she takes care of herself. She lives in the suburbs of Lisbon and once refused to meet me in the city because her hair and nails weren’t done.

Also my boyfriend Tom. How great this guy looks with a basic old pair of straight jeans and a ripped white tee! He proudly wears a gold chain with a little gold dolphin that someone gave me when I was a baby, and has two different coloured socks just because he doesn’t find the matching pair. I still remember how effortlessly cool he looked when we first met.

Best life hack?

Something I’m constantly trying with myself, is to live the present as much as I can. Otherwise life goes so fast because we’re just expecting the next chapter. Try to enjoy every single bit. Disconnect for a bit and trust.

I can’t choose just one: Jennifer Anne Murray, Masami Hosono, Ana Roque, Loris Messina, Theresa Grs, Sissi Pohle.

One recommendation to read/ watch/ listen/ see or do?

Read ‘How to build a low-cost house of stone’ by Lewis and Sharon Watson and ‘Loving Hands’ by Frederick Leboyer. Watch the nature, listen to the river, see your vegetable garden growing, do your own olive oil.

I think the sunny city effect has really caught up with my wardrobe, so there is a lot more colour going on at the moment. Here I am wearing a beanie by Missoni (which it is definitely too hot for right now). A wool sweater vest that I thrifted many years ago, but still gets me compliments to this day. Maison Margiela denim, which were actually my first ever pair of jeans that I bought on sale a few years back, paired with the Martine Rose x Nike Shox that it took me forever to find. Finished off with my entire Sunnei Bag collection (my actual pride and joy).

The jewellery is a mixture of vintage and Veneda Carter which I wear daily, finished off with my vintage Cartier Tank Must with custom band.

Why did you choose this outfit?

I’ve found moving so much over the years has been a massive lesson in letting go. Since living in Lisbon my wardrobe hasn’t grown so much. I tend to just rotate the pieces I’m madly in love with and somehow they seem to work together — so this is really just a little thrown together fit of the standout items.

Where did you wear it/ where are you planning to wear it?

For my friends at @wide_shades’ pop up store launch here in the city. I needed something a little fun to sip wine and browse some sunglasses I can’t afford lol.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

You can’t force looking effortless. When I was younger I used to admire the style of people I’d see on my travels who just looked so easily put together. They always seemed unafraid to harmonise pieces that might clash or seemingly not make sense, and I wondered how their minds worked to even put those things together.

As I got older I realised — they actually weren’t even thinking about it. It was then that the confidence in my own style really evolved, and I learned to trust how I felt, and not what I thought people saw.

One person you think has great style?

Honourable mention for my best friend @hariagreable. I don’t really follow so many fashion pages or celebs any more, I think working in fashion kinda did that to me. But his wardrobe is incredible and the way he can adopt different styles, personas and energies all within what he has on his rails is impressive. He’s one of those people who doesn’t dress for other people. It just kind of comes together in the moment.

Best life hack?

Digital Dieting. We’re all captive to the algorithm and our sometimes inescapable digital consumption. It's important to do what you can to mix up the feed so we don’t end up in an echo chamber. My FYP changes so often - mostly recipe tutorials - but I like what I see there to be lighthearted and diverse, so I like to save all kinds of random things on Instagram. A little act of algorithmic rebellion.

Your favourite person to follow?

I love the page @twoarabminds, for visual inspo and mood. It’s just a really refreshing page on my feed at the moment. They’ve also recently released a velvet covered hardback photo book called Romantic Gangsta which looks great on my coffee table at the moment.

Also I’m really enjoying the page of @antoniagaryjr - I like his takes and his way of seeing culture. I find his cultural knowledge and analysis pretty close to the way I read what’s happening in the world at the moment.

One recommendation to read/ watch/ listen see or do?

I’ve just bought a book called ‘The Theory of The Leisure Class’ by Thorstein Veblen which introduces the concept of conspicuous consumption (ironic, I know!) but I’ve been pretty fascinated to learn more about this.

On the playlist right now there is a lot of Melvin Knight, this really interesting lo-fi R’n’B artist who I recently learned actually died in the early 2000s. But his left field approach to music making just feels so ahead of its time. Take a listen to his tune ‘I’m in love with a lesbian’. He’s got a few amazing projects which are great to have on in the background while I'm working from home.

What are you wearing?

My trousers (pants) are by J.Kim, a maternity purchase that I have lived in and will continue to do so for decades to come. My jacket is Chopova Lowena, I fawned over her for months and finally got lucky secondhand. I recently discovered the belt doubles as a bottle opener and that babies love the sensory jingle jangle of the carabiners. So it’s more than a jacket; it’s entertainment for us both.

My bag is by Nensi Avetisian, a Yerevan-based brand. My shoes are by Nicole Saldaña, another secondhand purchase, today sockless exposing a little toe cleavage. My shirt is a Uniqlo shirt upcycled by Sophie Hird who created this tie-like patchwork using an old football shirt. Also starring: Marine Serre tank and Shaun Leane ear and finger armour.

Why did you choose this outfit?

Essentially the outfit celebrates the five details I can’t resist in clothes; texture, metal, patchwork, cut-outs and multi-functionality. Plus, it spotlights my new favourite accessory, the bump. After a rollercoaster of fertility troubles, I’m just out here celebrating her as much as I can.

Where did you wear it?

An average Thursday in the office. Dressing the bump for work has been a lot of fun, if at times a bit of a design challenge. We have an informal no-toe policy [Ed note: I’m shook], so getting the belly button out in the boardroom is a fairly big deal.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

Invest in elasticated waistbands – they will always be there for you.

One person you think has great style?

My one person would be in the centre of a venn diagram starring Chloe Sevïgny for mastering chaos dressing, Caroline Polachek for her exquisite style codes, and right now Rihanna, for exceptional bump dressing.

Best life hack?

Magnesium Glycinate before bed. The dreams are trippy, but the sleep is so good.

Your favourite person to follow?

Nensi Avetisian. I adore her textural, structural and abstract approach to her practice. Her gram so beautifully articulates her world and makes me just want to be in it.

Currently I’m really enjoying MOTHERING MYTHS - an ABC of Art, Birth and Care. A series of essays, images and poetry which provides a very artful take on this crazy thing called procreation.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

Of all people, I heard a surfer say ‘style is how you wear blue jeans’. Style in the most literal sense is the manner in which you do things. The most stylish people I know have great conviction in their ideas and their manner, and inhabit them comfortably. Funnily enough, they usually aren’t fashion people or even people who think about fashion - perhaps about design and culture, but not fashion.

If you want to cultivate ‘good style’, look outside of fashion and let yourself be drawn to all manner of ideas and images to contribute to your visual literacy and refine your taste. If you only look to other people’s clothes (whether a runway or an influencer) you’ll end up with the sartorial equivalent of a Habsburg smile.

One person you think has great style?

Ana Vik has really done the work to survey the cultural landscape and respond stylishly. Also no one does a black mini better than the artist Harry Freegard.

Best life hack?

Don’t worry, be happy :)

I simply love Yohji Yamamoto and embodying the design ethos of dark romanticism and Asian culture. He’s used women as his main inspiration, and rightfully so. In particular, he's mentioned that his designs work to protect the female form and not sexualise it - love that.

Where did you wear it/ where are you planning to wear it?

I’m wearing it while I clear out my wardrobe! This outfit feels like present-day me, and since I have attachment issues with my clothes, wearing something that represents me now makes it easier to identify clothes that aren’t aligned with me anymore. Wearing something that you love while you do a wardrobe clear out sets the standard of how you dress and makes letting go of old clothes easier.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

Experiment and never play it safe - there’s a lot more to learn about yourself and the world when you dress playfully.

Crusty.

They are only trousers that fit me so I wear them everyday (when I got pregnant instead of buying lots of cheap maternity stuff, I bought one single pair of chic pants and got them tailored around waist and length) Margiela sling backs as I can sufficiently waddle but still feel cute. I am also enjoying these naughty, snug cardigans that frame my belly; I've had a long, bitter fertility journey so it feels good to celebrate my body right now. Frame my joy.

Where did you wear it/ where are you planning to wear it?

To the MØRNING office to host a quarterly Townhall summit for my team (where we share vision, brand, work, updates) and have lunch all together. Some of the chicest people I’ve ever met work for Ø so I always wanna scrub up for those bitches. (Ed note: can confirm this is very true.)

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

Don’t ‘overgild the lily’ as my mother would say. Be confident and decisive, arrogant even, with your choices. Carry yourself with conviction, the clothes are just a coating.

One person you think has great style?

My husband, Roo, because he dresses for himself, his joy and his mood. He doesn't care about looking cool or anyone's opinions. He’s the antithesis of a tagged outfit pic. He puts on a Maharishi kimono with short shorts and scruffy Clark's mules just to water his vegetable garden. Always a cheeky sock with a sandal, a metal band tee, a rogue cowboy hat with a feather.

Best life hack?

Don’t be a c*nt. The coolest thing to be is kind and generous.

The top and skirt set are from 100% SILK in Toronto. They’re printed with a sort of “image diary”; it’s subtle, but the closer you look, the more you see. I’m currently in Portugal, and I feel like a beach vacation is always a great opportunity to have more fun with dressing casually, some playful knits in the evening that can be thrown on over a bathing suit.

I wore this after a long day spent on the beach, about to cook a big pot of spaghetti with my friends on our last day before returning to London.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

Just wear the special thing. To the supermarket, to the cinema, wherever. Life’s too short to save good clothes for some imagined future occasion.

Robin Williams. You could tell he had fun with it. It was unpretentious, playful, a little bonkers. He wore Jean Paul Gaultier body prints, Issey Miyake, Walter van Beirendonck… I love when you can tell someone gets a genuine kick out of fashion and doesn’t take themselves too seriously.

Best life hack?

The Too Good To Go app. It connects users with local spots that have surplus food at the end of the day. I live in London Fields, and a lot of great restaurants and stores are on there.

Why did you choose this outfit?
I almost exclusively wear black which streamlines getting dressed. I tend to lean towards slightly oversized and masculine shapes ie. shorts and trousers. I like to round off an outfit with a leather jacket or coat - I have four or five in rotation and conveniently it’s rarely too hot in London to wear them.

Where did you wear it/ where are you planning to wear it?
I wore it to a birthday lunch at Rochelle Canteen and then out for a drink in the evening. Comfort is important as I like to walk at speed, so I wear micro heels or flat shoes. Side note: Nina Christen who designed these Bottega shoes has launched her own line and it’s great. I personally have been coveting the thong sandal. (Ed note: She’s also the new Design Director for shoes at Jonathan Anderson’s Dior).

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?
I like to have a tightly-edited wardrobe. I only keep pieces I wear and sell everything else periodically. One of the perks of working in buying for 15+ years is that you see collections when they are launched. You then have six months before they are delivered to hone down your wishlist.

One person you think has great style?
Olympia Scarry.

Best life hack?
Buy less, wear what you buy more. I love the concept of a personal uniform and seeing friends whose taste I admire rewearing their favourite pieces again and again.

My best life hack is to take yourself on a date. Whether it's once a week or once a month, find some time to take yourself out and treat yourself. It will do wonders for your mental health.

Two gold figaro anklets, one with a heart charm, the other with an evil eye charm to keep matiasma at bay. Brown suede Sebago slingbacks, bought on heavy discount in early spring. Turns out they’re the perfect summer city and holiday shoe.

Why did you choose this outfit?
It was a 25°C Friday night and a casual evening ahead, staying close to home. I wanted to feel sexy, and this outfit is slinky, chic and totally relaxed. It features a lot of tiny, shiny details, as well as blues, browns and golds, which feed my soul.

Where did you wear it?
For a dinner spread at 01 Adana with my boyfriend, followed by a couple of glasses at Stella’s - a butcher cum bar - where a friend of ours was DJing.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?
Don’t try to emulate someone else’s entire look. Pay attention to the smaller details, from the cut of their clothes to the attitude with which they wear them, and pick up cues for your own wardrobe. Also, learn which colours you love most, and that suit you best.

One person you think has great style?
Maryam Nassir Zadeh. I like her genre blending - mixing colours and patterns, the high with the low, objects and materials - and I admire her unfiltered, feminine-first point of view online. Maryam and I share a penchant for the sea, sunsets and spiritual signs, and I adore her trademark pink lip.

Best life hack?
Body oil as perfume. I alternate between Madagascan Amber and Mexican Tuberose from Officine Universelle Buly, and I’m recently addicted to the Coconut and Rose oil from Floricienta Iuvenalis.

Ustun for chicken or lentil soup, pickles and fresh bread rather than cooking dinner for one.

It’s giving “sun’s out but London will humble you by 7PM.” That weird in-between vibe. Honestly, I got dressed in 15 minutes.. it was a gut choice. Functional, flirty, unfussy.

A cute friend date: we hit a branded pop-up, then parked ourselves in the sun for drinks, which turned into a late-night bite in Chinatown.

Best style lesson?

Don’t force it. Sometimes less is more. But also? Sometimes more is more. It depends on the day, the mood, the playlist. If you have to talk yourself into an outfit, it’s not the one. Some days you’re chill, and some days you’re a spectacle. Just commit either way.

Life hack?

For me personally? Wearing black. Not because it’s “chic,” but because it lets me do whatever the hell I want, however I want. It makes me feel the most confident. Plus, it cuts the morning stress and keeps the silhouette clean. It’s not about playing it safe, it’s about playing it smart.

Any cat meme account with chaotic energy and looks like it was made in 2009.

One recommendation to read/watch/listen/see or do?

Go to Japan. It rewired my brain (in the best way) and I didn’t come back the same. Japan has something you feel, not just see. I think about it all the time. Can’t wait to go back.
