3 Minute Thread: Emman

Emman is a woman who oozes elegance. Her style blends a contemporary point of view with an unmistakeable whiff of old world glamour. Perhaps this aura comes from the rare perfumes she collects, or her encyclopaedic knowledge of aesthetics and culture, which spans eighties Modernist furniture, cinematic design, contemporary Japanese textiles and London’s underground club scene. I hope you’re inspired by this quick foray into her wardrobe and her mind:

Who are you?

My name is Emman I am a creative director, stylist, model, curator, designer and consultant.

What are you wearing?

I'm wearing a daytime look- a Harley Davidson tee, a zipper cardigan, a hysteric glamour denim mermaid skirt and textured resin coated creased textured fabric boots from the early 00s, all thrifted from Vinted. I'm also wearing my favourite fragrance, Casbah by Robert Piguet, which smells like a church.

Where did you wear it/ where are you planning to wear it?

I chose this outfit because most of the time people only see the outfits I wear to events, however I think the most interesting outfits I wear are in the daytime. It still reflects my love for mixing dramatic silhouettes, colours and textures with streetwear.

I've worn this look a few times to my weekly grocery shop and to the office. I love the way the denim ruffles move when I walk, although it’s a little challenging walking upstairs and riding a bike, as the skirt is too fitted.

What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?

The best style lesson I've learnt throughout the years is that fragrance adds the final touch to any outfit and transforms the look from visual to sensory.

One person you think has great style?

My grandma has the best style. She constantly inspires me and has shown me how style evolves with time and wisdom.

Best life hack?

The best life hack is to carry an emergency mini bag in your hand bag with a portable charger, pen, notebook, tissues for a runny nose, chewing gum, deodorant and a mini makeup kit for touchups. It will save you in those last minute emergencies!

Your favourite person to follow?

It's very hard to pick just one person to follow when there are so many amazing creators out there! Some that I adore include @cindygreenenyc, @strangedesires_ , @archaelogyart and @makeupincinema.

One recommendation to read/ watch/ listen/ see or do?

I highly recommend investing time in your community! It could be a check in and chat on the phone, a social gathering, a group trip thrifting in a vintage store or at a car boot sale. All these social activities have influenced my style far more than anything else.
