3 Minute Thread: Georgia Moot
"I continue to wear some questionable and unflattering outfits"
Georgia Moot and I have a lot in common. Together, we’re a pair of 6’1” Cancer crabs with a love of reading, writing and vintage shopping. One of us is an ex-model who used to live in New York, one of us is a current model who now lives in New York. Here’s the latter:
Who are you?
My name is Georgia Moot. I’m a tall, British Cancerian like yourself! For work, I model, write, and speak.
What are you wearing?
I'm wearing a top by BCBG Max Azria, Dior trousers and Jasmin shoes—all secondhand and/or vintage. My earrings are a mixture of Justine Clenquet and Brooke Callahan, and my headband is from Boots.
Why did you choose this outfit?
I chose this outfit because I think it represents an everyday look for me, although it’s maybe a bit tighter than my usual. The whole outfit is from eBay (except the socks and underwear, because I’m not a heathen), which is where 95% of my wardrobe comes from. Lately, I’ve been very into a sort of 2008 art teacher vibe—a lot of soft jersey or modal material, dark, earthy tones, draping, layering, tunics, boots, stripes, etc., often bordering on slightly ugly or awkward. I might even throw a pashmina in there for good measure.
Where did you wear it/ where are you planning to wear it?
Anywhere! Today I wore it to a coffee shop, a gallery and work :)
What’s the best style lesson you’ve learned over the years?
To not overthink things, listen to whatever is innate. Also, it's ok to make mistakes and have fun. I have, and continue, to wear some questionable and unflattering outfits.
One person you think has great style?
Ooooooh one person is hard. Chloe Sevigny of course, and Neneh Cherry is a top contender. Mostly I'm inspired by my friends, strangers on the subway, people getting dressed up for church… old men wearing stacks of gold jewellery.
Best life hack?
Steaming your clothes while you’re in the shower, saves me most mornings.
Your favourite person to follow?
My younger sister on Tik Tok, she’s 10 times cooler than I could ever be.
One recommendation to read/ watch/ listen/ see or do?
I love attending the Poetry Project evenings held at St.Mark’s church in the East Village, they’re very special and often free, too!
