3 Minute Thread: Sari Räthel
"This look was all about celebrating a moment: our last big rave at Berghain before becoming parents."
If I ever have a baby, I want to look like Sari whilst doing it. No frumpy maternity wear here - the jewellery designer has been rivalling Rihanna when it comes to pregnancy style, adapting her existing wardrobe and building super cool looks around her bump. With her baby arriving any minute now, I wanted to commemorate one of Sari’s many amazing outfits and wish her all the best for becoming a mum! [Update: baby Onyx has been born!]
Who are you?
I’m Sari Räthel – designer (half of design duo RÄTHEL & WOLF) and somebody who just loves materials, bodies and the human experience. And soon-to-be mum! 🐣
What are you wearing?
Everything I’m wearing comes from brands based in London, Paris, Copenhagen, or Berlin – cities I’ve lived and worked in, and where I’ve built a beautiful network of talented friends. Dressing in their creations feels like a daily love letter to this community.
From head to toe…
Eyewear: @forza.collective, a hot brand from Copenhagen, run by our dear friend Kristoffer.
Jewellery: All @rathelwolf – of course – except for one chunky silver ring that belonged to my mum and she wore a lot when I was a child. I made the belly chain especially for my bump, which adds a touch of ritual and sparkle. I love how jewellery just always carries a story.
Top: A well-loved @marieyat* bikini top – perfect for summer swims and dance raves.
Jacket: I live in this one, a denim piece from my husband’s former label, @liam__hodges.
Trousers: @gmbh_official – absolutely love them and ultra stretchy, ideal for my growing curves. The iconic double zip looks amazing over my curvy belly!
Bag: @venczel_. I got this beautifully constructed bag for my wedding and still wear it to elevate any outfit, and generally love all of Matilda’s designs!
Shoes: @rombautofficial boots – my loyal companions through Berlin winters and late nights on the dance floor.
Scent: The Door by @roelenperfume, by my bestie David Roelen. The perfume has notes of smokey black tea, latex and Palo Santo, an homage to Berlin’s most famous club, funnily enough!
Lipstick: @isamayabeauty, love how she reinvents the beauty industry, and the packaging is spot on.
Why did you choose this outfit?
This look was all about celebrating a moment: our last big rave at Berghain before becoming parents. It marked a joyful chapter of pregnancy, one filled with energy, love, and connection (after those first three months that felt like a hangover-meets-jet lag-meets-burnout). When I asked my midwife if Berghain was a good idea, she said: “Do whatever brings you joy – your baby will feel that too.” That advice carried me through all nine magical months.
And that our last big rave collided with International Women’s Day was just perfect. My bump got so much love – people dancing around me, blessing the baby with good vibes. It felt like a communal celebration of life, literally and figuratively.
Where did you wear it?
Berghain, Sunday afternoon, for one final Berlin boogie with my husband and friends before we stepped into our Copenhagen chapter, as we are moving there in a few months. It was a farewell to the city’s club scene – and a welcome to our next adventure as parents. We’ll still dance, just maybe not at 4 a.m. (and probably not together for a while). Afternoon raves in Berlin made that transition feel gentle and joyful.
Best style lesson?
As a jewellery designer it‘s really simple: just add special jewellery and any look is complete.
Style icon?
My hot husband. I borrow his clothes all the time – especially pieces from his former Liam Hodges collections.
Life hack?
Always ask. I tell my students this all the time – people want to help, and asking builds community.
Favorite person to follow?
@dushan___petrovich – Berlin’s best hair stylist (the genius behind my sharp bob), and a brilliant photographer. His Instagram stories feel like a visual diary filled with humour and poetic travel moments.
One recommendation to read/watch/listen or do?
Read Matrescence by Lucy Jones. It’s for anyone with a mother, not just mums. The book explores motherhood through a social and historical lens, making the emotional transformation of becoming a parent feel deeply understood and beautifully human.

*Fun fact, Ronan Mckenzie also chose a piece from Mariyeat when she was a guest on the Threads of Conversation podcast.
