Also can I ask how you came across this piece? I think someone must have shared it as suddenly I got so many likes on it... but I can't figure out who!
I was already excited to watch it... then your newsletter gave me so much to think about, I can't wait! When I think if stylish films .. hm these come to mind: Breathless 1960, Party Girl 1995, Blow up 1966
Yeah totally, I love that she brings this extra dimension to the film in terms of the message about style. She is such a fashion darling, but also always wears the clothes, they never wear her.
She has such unique personal style, and yet is also really deeply embedded in the fashion world with all its seasons and trends. So having her in this role, playing a designer, really enhances the points I made in the essay, when thinking about this tension between fashion as an industry and style as self-expression
Highly recommend two films by the Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentini, The Great Beauty and Parthenope. The cinematography is exquisite and sensual.
Thank you! Stay tuned for the essay haha, I'm sure they'll inspire me to write more on this topic

I wanna hear what you think!! Oh yes Party Girl is on my list since watching the white lotus... I had no idea Parker Posey was such an icon!
Now I will go and watch it!
It’s so beautiful! Once you’ve seen it I’d be interested to know if you agree/ disagree with my analysis?!
Chloe Sevigny is everything, her aura ✨
