I really love seeing your disparate styles in these pictures, Georgia. The big suit is magnificent, of course, and I might steal the suits and sunglasses idea for my next party.๐
Oneโs personal style is ever evolving, so donโt get locked into it and always be open to trying new things. One of my newest aesthetics is โWeird Adidasโ and Iโm really enjoying the flexibility and change it brings to my regular classy outfits.
Also, a big secondhand shopper here. Iโm mostly an in person shopper, doing very little online. ๐
Hey Sheila! Iโm intrigued by โweird adidasโ - tell me more?! I have a lot of vintage adidas bits, I like the injection of sportiness the 3 stripes give to an outfit. Suits and sunglasses is such a fun theme - your bravest friend will come in a bathing suit.
Ha, not likely to wear a bathing suit, as most of my friends are in their 50s and 60s.๐
Weird Adidas are all those Adidas garments that are just a little odder than the rest, like a tulle skirt or a very cropped hoodie. iโve been incorporating a few pieces here and there for a couple of years, but have taken the lunge into a sportier look recently.๐
What a breath of fresh air in the year of Personal StyleTM content this was! I really love the two distinct sides of your wardrobe coin. And that it's mostly secondhand creative fun i.e. it's just purely about the style, not the shopping (maybe I am nauseatingly pious on this topic but I'm just over affiliate links at this point lol)
Ah thank you Caitlin! Yes the Jekyll and Hyde of my aesthetic - I actually find it funny that they're like two different people hiding inside my wardrobe. Also quite challenging to mix and match the two sides outfit-wise! But the heart wants what it wants etc. One of my goals for next year is to spend more time on Vinted and Vestiaire to get my algorithm as flawless as my Depop one currently is... (that's literally the trick. Spend hours liking and saving stuff on the app lol)
Loved this thread. It also inspired me to take more outfit pictures because I feel like Iโd never be able to write something on my personal style and have no idea what is going on. Especially working from home most of the time my personal style tends to be just oversized and casual haha. I love how you divided it by โdifferentโ styles but all still feel very you. I feel like I dress very different per season (especially when it comes to colour and femininity)
Ah thank you Zoรซ! I feel like people think they need to be 'fashionable' to have personal style. What you wear can tell you so much about where you're at - whether or not the outfit is deemed 'stylish' or otherwise. In fact, some of the outfits that tell me most about myself are ones that were really awful... haha.
I used to think that I had to have a fixed sense of style, but I think this year I kind of gave up on that, and realised I still needed space to play and evolve. However, I really loved listening to Dara discuss her personal style on the podcast earlier this year. She said some really interesting things about stripping back her aesthetic to a few consistent elements, and how those guardrails then gave her space to play. I've thought about that conversation a lot since.
As for your outfits, I'm always interested in what creatives outside the fashion industry are wearing! Their creativity is usually expressed within their choices, but they tend to be less indoctrinated by the 'rules' of the industry, which often makes for a refreshingly original look.

I actually went on a brand trip with them last year, I wrote about it here: https://threadsofconversation.substack.com/p/a-thread-about-essentialism-in-the. Would LOVE to dive into the archive, especially the collabs.
I have a Y3 piece, and three Stella McCartney X Adidas jackets. Love the collaborations.๐
Oh yeah like this kind of thing?! https://depop.app.link/vEL4ttLKRPb
Sorry, Iโm not on Depop, your link is not working for me.๐
