A Thread about the AW25 fashion shows with Dazed's Emma Davidson

The podcast version of a front row seat

Keeping up with fashion week is a full time job. Emma Davidson would know - it’s literally hers.

As Fashion Director of Editorial and Partnerships at Dazed, Emma attends all the fashion weeks every season, and then some, serving Dazed Fashion’s 1.3 million strong audience with updates directly from her front row seat.

As if that wasn’t enough, last season Emma even found time to be a guest on the Threads of Conversation podcast, joining me to discuss the good, the bad and the fugly of SS25. If you listened to that episode, I’m sure you’ll agree that it was a very fun chat! So, this season, we decided to do it again. (A reminder that you can also listen on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and follow Threads of Conversation on Instagram and TikTok!)

Emma and her faux furry friends

In this episode, we discuss the highs and lows of the AW25 shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris, including (but not limited to):

Veronica Leoni’s Calvin Klein debut, Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen’s costume drama, Luar’s ‘Purse First’ models, George Trochopoulos’ gossamer knits, Jawara Alleyne’s constructed deconstruction, Jorja Smith shot by Liz Johnson Artur for Feben, her Little Edie inspiration, Aaron Esh’s wild party, Dsquared’s epically c*nty 30 year anniversary show, Gucci’s in-betweeny collection, Versace’s duvet dresses, Prada’s Babygirl subtext, Glenn Martens’ Margiela Easter eggs at Diesel, this guy, Vaquera’s Paris takeover, DSM Paris’ super friendly staff, Sarah Burton’s Givenchy debut, Rick Owens protegées Matières Fécales, Demna’s Balenciaga swan song, Emma’s gigantic coat rotation, karaoke with Bobby Gillespie and Katy England, stick-on shirts, Kendrick’s jeans, the return of Boom Boom, the everlasting allure of Martine Rose, Mrs. Prada’s defiant attitude, Cortisa Star at Miu Miu, and Valentino’s bathrooms which reminded me of this Gray Wielebinski artwork.

New York Fashion Week: Calvin Klein, Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen, Luar
London Fashion Week: George Trochopoulos, Jawara Alleyne, Feben
Milan Fashion Week: Dsquared, Gucci, Versace, Prada, Diesel
Paris Fashion Week: Vaquera, Givenchy, Matieres Fecales, Balenciaga, Valentino, Miu Miu

Like any professional podcaster, I made sure that we were well-sustained for our chat, which is why you’ll hear us sipping on Chardonnay and crunching through a packet of Camembert-flavoured crisps at certain points during the episode. Apologies in advance for the Mukbang crossover.

I finally got the new i-D! Haven’t had a chance to read it yet despite my resolution.

This made me laugh, in a cynical way. The phone snatching in London is outta control (luckily I’ve got you covered).

I always learn so much from Derrick Gee.

Same goes for Jenna Lyons.

Yesterday was trans day of visibility, so here are some artists I love: Tom Rasmussen, Kai Isaiah Jamal, Trinity Tristan, Octo Octa, TYGAPAW, Gray Wielebinski, Kae Tempest, i.Jordan and of course Dara.
